Care & Concern Ministry

PARISH CARE AND CONCERN MINISTRY

Who We Are:

A Coordinator and core group of volunteers who facilitate for the parish community opportunities to continue the servant ministry of Christ by using the gifts we have received in Baptism to meet the needs of our neighbors in the parish community and beyond.  The ministry is prayer based.  The volunteers are inspired by the love of the Father, the example of Jesus, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

What We Do:

  • Prepare baskets for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter and on an "as needed" basis year round
  • Pick up food from Food Bank site and maintain food pantry shelves
  • Collect personal items from Immaculate Conception School, the Parish Religious Education Program, and parish community for holiday basket distribution
  • Collect turkeys and hams from parishioners for holiday baskets
  • Maintain strong working relationship with Catholic Charities and the Department. of Social Services
  • Network with other local community organizations during the holiday seasons to better serve the community at large
  • Maintain and cultivate a good relationship with local merchants
  • Seek additional funding through grants from Catholic Community Services of Rockland and N.Y.S. HPNAP programs.

What We Hope To Do In The Future:

  • Maintain parishioner interest and involvement
  • Intensify the spiritual aspects of the ministry with greater prayer involvement
