 Altar Servers

Boys and girls of the parish who are in the fifth grade through high school are invited to serve at the altar with the priests for all Masses, weddings and funerals. Their duties include but are not limited to:

  • accompanying the priest, the deacon and other liturgical ministers in the processions; assisting the priest by holding the Sacramentary when he reads the opening and closing prayers;
  • assisting in the setting up of the altar;
  • assisting the priest as he receives the gifts from the congregation and presenting them to the priest at the altar;
  • providing the priest with holy water or incense any time they are to be used in the liturgy.

Any young person in the parish who is in the fourth through twelfth grade may apply to become an altar server by contacting Fr. Reji Joseph. Training sessions take place soon. Parish Altar Servers attend both the parish school and the local public schools. They will be asked to sign a contract which requires them to take responsibility in fulfilling certain altar server duties and to live a Christian lifestyle which would be expected of anyone serving on the altar of God.

 Band

Band is offered to children of Immaculate Conception School during regular class hours. They participate in two concerts a year. Immaculate Conception is proud of the fact that several of our students are named to the Honors Band by Paul Effman Music each year.

 CYO Basketball

The basketball program is for children of the parish in grades three to eight. The program has 200 children registered this year. Our third grade program is an instructional league where the children are taught basketball skills.

The season runs from September to March with each team practicing two nights a week and playing games on weekends or on a practice night. Each team plays the other Catholic schools in Rockland County averaging about 10 games a season plus tournaments they are invited to.

Sign ups for the program take place in early June at the school.

The program has a board of six members and twenty-two coaches, all volunteers from the parish.

To learn more about the Basketball Program, or to join, contact the representative on the Directory page

 Irish Step Dancing

The Woods School of Irish Dancing offers classes in Irish Step Dancing to Elementary School aged children of the parish on Wednesday afternoons and evenings during the school year. Children learn the fundamentals of Irish dancing in a great social environment.
The children are also prepared to dance in competions and shows.

 Youth Club (ICYC)

Immaculate Conception Youth Club (ICYC) is a group for Catholic high school age students (8th grade through 12th grade) where we learn about our faith and explore ways to put it into action in our daily lives. We explore our Catholic values and work to serve our community and nation.

 SERV

SERV (Students Encourage Religious Vocations) is a group of young men who gather to explore vocations to the priesthood. Through prayer and discussion, the group learns what the priesthood is all about, and the members have an opportunity to consider the possibility that God might be calling them to be priests in a totally non-committing atmosphere, free of any feeling of being “drafted.” SERV meets once a month on a Friday. We gather at 3:30 PM at the rectory for some recreation, followed by a pizza dinner. Afterwards, we have a prayer and discussion session, during which we talk about our Catholic faith, the priesthood, what it requires, and how we might know if God is calling us to this great ministry. SERV is open to young men in 8th grade through adulthood. All that one needs in order to belong to SERV is the willingness to leave the door open to the possibility that God might be calling him to be a priest. For further information, contact Fr. Carrozza at 786-2742
